Denton Watumull, MD
Dr. Denton Watumull was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and attended the renowned Punahou School, where he graduated with academic honors and was recognized as an All-American athlete in water polo. Alongside his academic and athletic achievements, he nurtured an artistic passion for glassblowing, earning multiple awards during his high school years.
He went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Claremont McKenna College in California, where he was honored as the top science student of his class while also competing as a varsity athlete in aquatics. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaii, graduating with honors and membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Watumull completed his surgical training at the University of Texas Southwestern, one of the nation’s most respected programs. His training included residencies in general and trauma surgery, plastic surgery, and hand and microsurgery. In total, he devoted nine years to advanced postdoctoral training and went on to achieve board certification in three specialties—an accomplishment that reflects his commitment to excellence and comprehensive expertise.
Recruited to the Dallas area, Dr. Watumull founded Regional Plastic Surgery Center, now one of the premier plastic surgery groups in Texas with four—and soon five—board-certified surgeons. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, and President of the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons. He also serves as Medical Director and Chairman of the Medical Executive Committees at two surgery centers. Recognized repeatedly by his peers, Dr. Watumull has been named to D Magazine’s list of “Best Doctors in Dallas” more than 15 times and has earned a place in their “Hall of Fame.”
Today, Dr. Watumull focuses his practice on aesthetic surgery, with special expertise in facelifts, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, abdominoplasty, breast augmentation, breast lifts, mommy makeovers, and body contouring after massive weight loss. Outside of medicine, he continues to pursue his love of glassblowing—an artistic passion that parallels the precision, creativity, and artistry he brings to his surgical practice.
